The 43 diseases recognised by WHO to be treatable by acupuncture was first published in 1976. WHO hasn't reviewed any new diseases recognized.

As far as I know, acupuncture and moxibustion are used very widely because Chinese medicine sees diseases from many perspectives and they use many different yet complimentary theories to diagnose and treat patients.

The issue of acupuncture being recognised by effectiveness of different diseases is a complicated one. So far only 43 are regconized; that doesn't mean some other diseases not listed aren't treatable by acupuncture. It takes lots of human resources and time to scientifically recognize something.

I agree with you that Chinese medicine sees things from many perspectives. And many different yet complimentary theories come in for a better and more complate overall picture when it comes to understanding the nature of diseases.
